Akram Khan Company

Adapted from Akram Khan’s Olivier Award-winning solo DESH by director Sue Buckmaster, Chotto Desh (‘small homeland’) distils a celebrated exploration of cross-cultural identity into dance theatre for a family audience. The story embodies a young man as he navigates between his restless London childhood, his parents' Bangladeshi heritage, and his own dreams, caught between worlds yet forging his own path. Classical Kathak footwork meets contemporary dance, alongside storytelling, dreamlike animations and Jocelyn Pook’s original music, to form a layered stage language that remains accessible to young viewers while resonating with adults.
